Everywhere I turn, friends are going THROUGH it. It seems our lives are enacting, in miniature, everything falling apart at scale. For instance, my dance card—if it can be called a dance card if it’s only full of memorial services 😔—is now booked up for the decade.

Things happen. It’s all they ever do.

But that doesn’t mean we have to take it all lying down. That’s why I simply had to share some art witchiness for the ages to help us all focus on the outcomes that will make our lives better, individually and collectively.

This spell was inspired by my friend Cassie,¹ who started a home improvement project three years ago. Today, Cassie has a gaping hole in her yard, a liability the city is none too happy about and a lawsuit on her hands.

“I made a vision board about this contractor getting what’s coming to him,” she told me.

Ever since then, all I’ve been able to think is: we should be doing this.

Do Vision Boards Work?

You may remember The Secret² craze.

You may also remember that manifestation didn’t work for most of the people who watched the documentary. Not because manifestation is bullshit, but because the folks watching thought the vision board was the endgame. Cut out a picture of a Porsche, tape it to some poster board and wait for the Porsche to show up in the driveway.

That’s not magick; it’s wishful thinking.

A vision board is more like a compass than a vending machine. You look at it every day, and your nervous system starts to organize itself around the images. Your attention sharpens. Your decisions start to bend toward it. You begin to notice doors you would have walked past before because now you know what you’re actually looking for.

But you still have to walk through the doors.

The people who never got their manifestations skipped that step. They binged Netflix and snapped at their spouses and focused on lack. The universe responded by bringing them more of the same.

How We Make This Vision Board Work for Us

Cassie knows a thing or two.

She did the work, not just the collaging. She hired the lawyer, filed the paperwork and documented the discrepancies. Her vision board wasn’t a replacement for action. It was a declaration of intent. It was her, with scissors and rosé, saying, I know how this ends. I can see it. I am holding the image of justice in my hands, and I refuse to let it go.

We may be tired. We may be deep in our own quagmires. But we know how to show up—because we’ve already been doing it. We’ve been in the streets and in the margins and in the comment sections and at the meetings. We’ve been calling and organizing and showing up, even when showing up felt like screaming into a bureaucratic void.

Which means we have already fulfilled the part of the vision board equation that most people skip.

What to Do

So here’s what I propose: gather your people, pour something delicious and co-create this puppy. If you can, do it this Sunday, June 14th—the night of the new moon in Gemini.

Astrologers describe this moon as a time when possibilities multiply the instant they are named. A vision board is exactly that: the act of naming what you intend to see happen, out loud, in images, with your hands. The moon will also be sitting between Mars and Jupiter—the planets of will and justice, respectively—which, for a board about accountability and consequence, feels less like a coincidence and more like cosmic alignment. Make of that what you will.

This craft circle isn’t about what we want to build—it’s about what we want to put an end to. It’s about the faces and the policies and the structures we want to see crumbled and composted back into something that might actually flourish. It’s a board that holds, in tangible cut-and-paste physical form, our vision of accountability. Of consequences. Of the specific and satisfying image of power being stripped from people who have never not been part of the 1%.

I envision glitter and smoke on this board. I want handcuffs—don’t care if they’re fuzzy. I want red Xs, hand-drawn sigils and Post-it notes with villains' names on them. I want images of people weeping with joy and relief—that it finally happened. I want it raw and I want it honest and I want it to look like it was made by people who have been righteously, patiently, strategically furious for a very long time.

Because that is exactly what we are.

The foundation is already crumbling. This vision board is just the nudge we need to push this empire all the way off the cliff.

The day will come when America is no longer held captive by the vengeful, narcissistic felon Donald Trump.
