If you’ve been following Weapons of Mass Resistance from the beginning, you know we’ve been building to this. The Domination Oil from Vol. 3?

That was homework for this spell.

But first, a caveat.

In light of my conversation with about the difference between white and black magick, I want to acknowledge that by her definition, and my own, this is dark(er) magic. Both our understandings suggest magick worked on another person without their consent is dark.

I don't do this lightly, and generally, I don't do it at all. But I believe justice magick has a karmic balancing effect. We are not sending out an intention to harm a target. We are asking the spell to take the target’s energy and redirect it back at him. So effectively, it’s gray magick.

And if that gray magick causes suffering, that's a consequence he has earned.

That said, if this is not your jam, the spells in Vols. 2-5 are a perfect way to contribute your intentions to this collective without wading into territory that makes you uncomfortable. For everyone else, as I’ve said previously, when I feel personal protection is necessary in a working, I will make it clear. It’s not necessary now.

Now, Let’s Talk About Binding

A binding spell doesn’t curse. It metaphysically restrains, limiting DJT’s capacity to act in ways that damage others. Think of it as a straitjacket, mostly just because that’s fun imagery.

We’re asking the universe to make Trump increasingly ineffective at deploying his vicious energy against the rest of us. What makes this spell so satisfying, while keeping us karmically in the clear, is that we aren’t asking for a lightning bolt. We’re requesting that people “sour” on him.

And here’s why that’s the best possible outcome.

One of the most insidious things about this administration has been the stomach-churning loyalty of Trump’s sycophants. Watching ostensibly independent-thinking adults compromise their souls to lick his boots has been like a horror film.

His power doesn’t come from their respect. It comes from the perverse gravitational pull he exerts on bad people who want him to keep their secrets, and weak people drunk on the promise of dominance. Sever those ties, and the whole apparatus starts to wobble.

Not to mention the fact that an ego death of this magnitude will shatter his villainous little heart. I’ve got the popcorn ready 🍿

So that’s what we’re doing. We’re souring people on him. And we’re using a lemon to do it.

Loser Lemon Spell

(Adapted from Hoodoo Justice Magic, by Miss Aida)

Skill level: Easy

Know why this spell drew my eye? Of course you do.

I cringe every time Trump calls someone a “loser.” I’m not a fan of words that impart no information and are simply hurled as daggers. I think they’re the sign of a low-IQ person. (See what I did there?)

But obviously, this was too perfect to pass up.

What you need:

• A lemon

• An image of Trump, showing his eyes. This is a good one.

• A rubber band or some twine

• A sheet of aluminum foil

• Dominion/Domination Oil

What you do:

On the back of the photo of Trump, write the following:

Donald John Trump, born to Mary Anne MacLeod Trump on June 14th, 1946

Slice the lemon lengthwise, but not all the way through. Insert the photo into the lemon, closing it with a rubber band or twine while saying:

Donald John Trump, you are a loser.
The world is waking up to it.
Every person who has helped you achieve your vile agenda has soured on you.
You are unpopular, unliked and unwell.
No one is willing to help you now,
You are bound from causing further harm.

So it is.

Wrap the lemon in a sheet of aluminum foil, shiny side facing the lemon and set it outside.

Anoint the sole of a hard-soled shoe with the Dominion Oil. (If you don't have it yet, skip the oil and do the spell anyway. Don't let perfect be the enemy of the good.) Step on the lemon with the anointed shoe every day for three days.1

After this time, the spell wants you to bury it in the woods or at a crossroads away from your neighborhood, which you should then walk away from and not look back.2

On Timing

If you’re reading this in real time: perform this spell on Wednesday, May 13th, after dark.

Mercury rules Wednesday, and Mercury presides over communication, influence, persuasion and the turning of minds. He is the planet of rhetoric, which is precisely what we’re working against. We’re using Mercury’s own domain to jam the signal. His influence carries into the night, so any time after sunset and before you sleep is the right window.

Before we get to May 13th and the spell we’ve been building toward—the one that requires your Domination Oil and a lemon—I want to pause.

Because not everything in this compendium is dark magic.

In fact, most of what I practice isn’t. I believe love is the most powerful force in the universe. More powerful than rage or fear, and more powerful than whatever malignance is currently occupying the Oval Office. The dark workings have their place, but this week I want to give you something else.

The World-Changing Ritual

This ritual is inspired by the inimitable . Roxy writes about practical witchcraft and magickal history, with a sprinkling of glitter and a hearty helping of righteous rage. Her essays are both inspiring as hell and a glorious reminder that a simple spell can still be powerful AF. I invite you to follow her ASAP. You won’t regret it.

I’ve adapted her ritual slightly for our purposes here.

Why now?

Because no one ever hugged Pete Hegseth, Bibi, Putin or DJT as children, and now the world is paying for it.

Here is where things stand:

Ukraine—Russia launched more drones in March than in any other month of the war. Ukraine intercepted 92% of them—which is remarkable—but as I write this, 10 have been killed and 67 injured in an aerial strike just today. Traumatized pets are being evacuated. Soldiers on the front lines are starving.

Gaza—A ceasefire has technically been in place since October 2025, but the violence has not stopped. Hundreds have been killed since then, bringing the death toll to 69,236 Palestinians and 1,983 Israelis—with more than 80% of that number being civilians. Reconstruction has not begun. Israel continues to occupy most of Gaza.

Iran—As I’m sure you know, approximately 165 school girls were killed in March, and our Commander-in-Chief has threatened a slew of additional war crimes since then. A tenuous ceasefire came into effect on April 8th, but as of this writing, peace talks have stalled, Trump has canceled his plan to send envoys to Pakistan and the Strait of Hormuz remains closed. Or open. It’s anybody’s guess.

The Working

What you need:

• Bay leaves—one for each intention you’re sending out

• Ink—dragon’s blood ink if you have it, any old ink pen if you don’t (a soft tip marker works better than a ball point pen)

• A lighter

• A fireproof vessel—a cauldron, a soup pot, an outdoor firepit

What you do:

Write your intentions on the bay leaves, one per leaf. Be specific. Some suggestions:

• No drone strikes

• Full electrical capacity in Ukraine

• Peace in… (fill in the blank)

• A good night’s sleep for those in a war zone

• Full bellies for those in a war zone

• Safety for all children

• Calm for all pets

• Reconstruction in… (fill in the blank)

• Humanitarian aid getting where it needs to

• A ceasefire that holds

• The Strait of Hormuz open

• American soldiers home safe

Hold each leaf to your heart before you burn it. Let yourself feel your desire in the pit of your stomach, in your bones, in your soul. If the thought of children or animals being slaughtered makes you cry, welcome those tears.

Then burn each leaf, one by one, while saying:

By my will and by my might,
Transform this world from dark to light.
With every plea and every prayer
And every wish borne on the air,
What we dream now comes to pass,
We watch the old world breathe its last.

So mote it be.

When to do this:

The full moon amplifies and broadcasts—it sends your intentions outward with force. This is expansive, loving magic, which means full moon energy is exactly right for it.

The Flower Moon falls on May 1st—that’s this Friday.

As a way to express appreciation to her constituents, 82-year-old Senator Louise Lucas posted this.

In Other News

One of my lovely readers, , shared a ritual that she performs that is so unbelievably awesome, I had to pass it on to you.

I urge you to share it with your friends who may not be into magick or woo-woo, because the symbolism still works, and it feels naughty in the best possible way.

Write down the name of someone you want removed from power on a strip of paper2 and throw it in the trash. If you’re like me and that list is looooong, just write all their names on your trash can liner with a Sharpie.

Then, drink to the image of their names decomposing in the dark alongside all the other garbage…

Before we get to the next spell—that’s so freakin’ perfect for POTUS, you will faint from the poetic justice—we need to talk about oil.

Dominion or Domination Oil is one of the workhorses of justice magic. It’s been used for generations in hoodoo and rootwork traditions to compel, restrain and assert authority over a target. Think of it as the difference between asking nicely and making yourself impossible to ignore. We’re going to use it to supercharge the binding spell in the next installment, so this is your prep work.

Make it now. Let it sit. Shake it daily and focus on how compliant it will make all your enemies. We’ll be using it for the first time on May 13th.

The core recipe requires exactly two ingredients plus a carrier oil.

That’s it.

Everything else I’m going to tell you about is optional—things to add if you have them, things worth sourcing if you want to amplify the working. But the engine of this oil is calamus and licorice, and that is more than enough to make potent magick with.

What You Need

Your carrier oil—pick one:

Olive oil is the traditional choice and the one I recommend. Its correspondences—protection, victory, wisdom and peace—align well with justice work, and it’s been used as a ritual oil across more traditions than almost any other substance on earth.

Grapeseed oil’s correspondences are fertility and mental clarity, but it is neutral enough that it doesn’t pull the working in any particular direction, letting the active ingredients do their job without competition.

Jojoba oil is technically a liquid wax, but it behaves like an oil. Correspondences are protection and banishing, making it an excellent choice for this working. It also has the longest shelf life, which means your Dominion Oil will keep longer.

The two non-negotiables:

Calamus, also known as sweet flag, is the most commanding herb in the hoodoo tradition. It compels. It bends. It makes the target receptive to your will, whether they want to be or not. You can use calamus essential oil or calamus root pieces1; the root will be more affordable.

Licorice root is the binding agent. It has been used for centuries in domination and binding spells to keep the target under control once the working has taken hold. Same principle as calamus: You can use the essential oil if you have it, but sourcing the root itself is more cost-effective.

How to Make It

Cleanse a small jar. Glass picks up ambient energy from wherever it’s been—a warehouse, someone else’s hands. You’re about to put intentional work into this vessel, and you don’t want stray energy muddying it. You can:

• Wash it with salt water and let it air dry

• Pass it through smoke

• Leave it in sunlight or moonlight for a few hours

• Simply hold it and visualize it clearing, if you have no other tools

Add your ingredients to the jar. There’s no precise ratio of calamus and licorice root to oil—this is folk magick, so channel your inner wyrd sister standing over a bubbling cauldron. A tablespoon or two of root pieces per ounce of carrier oil is a reasonable starting point, and if you’re using essential oils, a few drops is sufficient. Seal the bottle tightly.

Say:

I consecrate this oil for the work of justice. May it carry my intention without corruption, amplify my will without distortion and serve the cause of protection for the innocent and restraint of the powerful. As I shake this vessel for the first time, the working begins.

So it is.

Give it a vigorous shake while holding your intention clearly in your mind. Then let it sit for at least a week, two is better, in a cool dark place. Try to remember to shake it daily and infuse it with your intention again and again.

Angelica root connects the working to divine authority. It’s one of the most powerful protective and holy herbs in folk magic, and it gives your Dominion Oil a kind of cosmic mandate. You’re not just asserting your will; you’re asserting the righteous authority of the hand of justice.

Frankincense is the great amplifier. It elevates and sanctifies whatever intention it accompanies, strengthens the connection to higher spiritual forces and has been used to drive away evil across multiple traditions. A few drops of frankincense essential oil or a small piece of resin added to your jar ups the ante bigly 👀

Cedarwood, associated with Solomon’s temple, endurance and power, contributes strength, ancient authority and durability.

Bergamot is the persuasion ingredient. It's associated with Mercury, the planet of communication and influence, which means its job is to make the target more receptive—to open the door before the calamus and licorice walk through it.

Vetiver is the fixative. It anchors the spell so it doesn’t dissipate into the ether and makes the working stick.

Add any or all of these to your jar along with your calamus and licorice. A pinch, some chips, a few drops—intention matters more than quantity.

Magickal Revenge

This is where we stop pulling punches. Hexing is powerful magick, and it requires the protective foundation laid in Vols. 7 & 8.

A Note on Timing

Some of these workings have optimal astrological timing—specific moon phases or planetary hours that amplify their power. Where timing matters, it will be noted in the individual post, but never let timing dissuade you from taking action against injustice.

As a general rule, the waning moon—the two weeks between the full moon and the new moon—is optimal for banishing and binding work.

Sometimes magick is complicated. It can require advance preparation, special ingredients and protective spells layered in the days leading up to the ritual. I always plan the most auspicious timing for my spells using planetary alignment and astrological correspondence.

This is not that.

Much of what’s coming later in this series is heavy enough that you’ll need to build a foundation first before you’re ready to work it safely. I’ll tell you when we’re approaching that territory and exactly what you’ll need to do beforehand.

But first, how about a quick win?

We could use it.

Following is a deliberately simple spell, because simple can happen today, right now—with nothing but a printer, some tape and the thing that makes all magick work regardless of its complexity: intention.

On Intention

The one thing that matters more than any ingredient, any timing, any moon phase, is intention. Magick doesn’t care how elaborate the ritual is. It cares whether you mean it.

A Psalm recited with fury and directed purpose hits harder than an elaborate ritual conducted while mentally composing your grocery list.

Magick requires you to believe in it. Not abstractly, not whimsically—all the way. I’ve heard it said that Jesus walked on water because he believed with every cell of his being that he could. You can claim that’s an impossibility of physics, but I can tell you with certainty that feats of magick don’t happen without that kind of commitment.

The simplicity of the spell that follows is not an indication of its power. But if you’re laughing at yourself while you do this, stop and try again tomorrow. A distracted or skeptical practitioner is not an effective one.

All that matters while performing this working is that your intention is pure and directed. Use your anger as fuel. Know exactly what you’re asking for and why, and mean it all the way down.

A Binding Spell

The purpose of a binding spell is to metaphysically restrain a predator from actions that hurt innocents.

No protective measures are required for what follows. It’s a simple karmic circle—spawned from Trump’s own actions. The only role you are playing is air traffic controller, directing the outbound energy back to him in a boomerang effect.

That said, if you already have a protection practice—wards, shields, talismans—1 running them first is never a bad idea.

Karmic Reflection Spell

Skill level: Easy

Print a photograph of your target. The eyes must be visible. Tape it to a mirror, with the image facing the mirror.

Below is a great image to use because his vindictiveness just oozes out of it. The karmic blowback ought to set him on fire instantly.

Then state, aloud and with full conviction:

Every act of evil Donald John Trump has committed, is committing and intends to commit will be reflected back onto him. The harm he directs outward will turn and find him instead. He cannot escape what he has set in motion.

So it is.

This one requires no timing, no moon phase, no astrological window. Do it now, do it with everything you have and let the universe handle the logistics.

If you’ve done this with your full chest, the karmic blowback will be immediate and comprehensive. He has given us a lot to work with.

The spells that follow in this series get progressively more complex—and more powerful. Hexes and aggressive workings carry their own risks if you go in unprotected, which is why future posts will walk you through the protective foundation you’ll need before we get there. Think of it as suiting up before the real battle begins.

It’s for the folks whose hearts are breaking as they go through the daily motions, who are trying to stay sane in a world that increasingly normalizes the unhinged.

It’s for experienced practitioners and neophytes, brujas and rootworkers, woo-curious Christians, secular witches and anyone who has never lit a candle in anger but is absolutely ready to start.

On the other hand, if you believe magick is just wishful thinking, this won’t be your jam. If you're here to remind me about the Rule of Three, my tradition says justice isn't harm. If you’re opposed to the Craft and have come to scream about it in the comments, you will be blocked.

I can’t write.

The muse has left the building, the well has run dry.

Most of the creators I know are in the same boat.

Those who aren’t tell me staying away from the news is the trick. To be clear: I would never be able to look myself in the mirror again if I didn’t fight right now for the people who don’t have the privilege of looking away.

There’s a reason Dante, the foremost expert on hell, claimed that the lowest level of it is reserved for “those who can do good, but choose to do nothing.”

I spend three+ hours a day (my demon phone alleges) on Substack, looking for good news—that he’s plunging in the polls, that another of his sycophants has bitten the dust, that lower court judges are not just shutting him down, they’re ripping him so many new assholes, he’ll need FEMA to declare the region a disaster area.

At the same time, I keep seeing posts about how marches aren’t doing anything, so why bother?

It’s such bullshit.

Protests are electrifying. I spend the first 30 minutes of every protest fighting the urge to sob. The zeitgeist makes us feel so helpless; protests remind us that there are more of us than them. More folks who care about the well-being of strangers than there are supervillains who get cruelty boners from watching everything burn.

Don’t tell me these actions don’t matter.

Whatever you take away from this post, please keep marching, boycotting, donating and calling your—admittedly useless—Congresspeople. But if you’re exhausted and inspiration-less and sick of watching everybody get away with literal murder, I think it’s time for some coordinated justice magick.

Some Weapons of Mass Resistance.

A Historical Precedent

Witchcraft is the original tool of people who have nothing left to lose.

In the summer of 1940, Gerald Gardner gathered his coven and directed their combined will at Hitler’s brain: you cannot cross the sea. They weren’t the first. According to Gardner’s own account, British witches had worked similar rituals against the Spanish Armada in 1588 and against Napoleon in 1805.

Then in 1941, a group of Americans inspired by occultist William Seabrook convened a hex party in a Maryland cabin to put a curse on Hitler. The ritual ended with Hitler’s effigy buried in the pine woods.

Despite the invasion barges being ready, Hitler never tried to take Britain. Four years later, he was dead in a bunker.

Why Collective, and Why Now

Here’s what I know about magick: it works like any other form of energy. More of it, applied to the same goal, accelerates the outcome.

This is what Weapons of Mass Resistance is: a compendium of spiritual action, justice magick and tactical warfare for every tradition—because every voice, every candle flame, every intention added to these workings amplifies the whole.

It will grow into a master calendar of timed collective workings, mapped to astrological and seasonal timing for maximum impact. It will include options for practitioners across every tradition—and for people who don’t have a tradition yet but are done waiting to find one before they act. Contributed spells, contributed timings, contributed prayers. A living document.

Not everyone who reads this lights candles or casts circles, and that’s fine. This series will have something for each of you. But we start here, today, with the simplest thing I can offer: words.

Psalm 94 has been used in Hoodoo and rootwork traditions for generations as a send-away prayer—one of the most effective tools in the folk magic arsenal for driving enemies from your path and calling down divine justice on those who abuse their power. ¹⁹ In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
²⁰ Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
²¹ They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
²² But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.
²³ And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.

For maximum effect, recite this with fervor during the waning moon—the two weeks between the full moon and the new moon,1 when banishing energy is strongest. At night, if you can. But if the moon is waxing and you're angry right now, say it anyway. State your intention plainly before you begin—tell God or the universe exactly what you're asking for and why. Close with Amen, or whatever word of sealing your tradition uses. Then let it go.
